Appearance
Smelled fairly light and the cold draw was mellow with cedar and leather notes. After lighting there was a strong creaminess, almost butter-like. Started really tasting good about an inch into the smoke. One of those cigars that you want to smell on your mustache for the rest of the night. This is a fantastic blend of medium-light tobacco to more medium-full tobacco flavor which gives a great aroma. The retrohale stays extremely creamy but with a big enough plume of smoke, gets a tad spicy. The draw felt a tad tight but there is great smoke output. Halfway thru and the ash is hanging on tight. No burn issues, but it's not razor sharp and even, just steady as she goes. Freshly burnt ash is white/gray and the older part of the ash is yellowing and becoming blackened. Still very creamy after the first half with cedar and buttered toast notes. I'm trying not to smoke too fast but the flavor and aroma is irresistible. A slight toasted marshmallow taste popped up as I approached the band. I slid both bands off without the ash breaking so that just adds to how impressed I am of the impeccable construction. This will go down as one of the best smokes of the year so far for me. Ash finally dropped at the nub, perfect timing for a shot of mezcal. Paired with a margarita while the sun was out and a Bell's Two Hearted ale when the sun went down, followed by a shot of mezcal as the ash finally fell at the nub. I used the opportunity to stick a nub tool in it and finish it up.
