A pleasant surprise. With a name like this I wasn’t expecting much but this turned out to be a great cigar. Definitely one I’ll be getting again.

One of the best cigars I’ve tried. Bought a box when they were released based purely off my love of the My Father brand and wasn’t the least bit disappointed. Now I’m just trying to make the box last by only smoking these on special occasions. This was meant to be my New Years Eve smoke but I was sick so put it off a few nights until I felt better and was able to enjoy it. Don’t have any Scotch at the moment so made a “southern godfather” using JD Sinatra Select. Paired pretty good with this cigar.

Great flavor. A little mild at the start but ramped up as I smoked it. A rather fast burn for a toro but on a cooler night that’s kind of a good thing.

Draw and burn were a little rough on this one. Wonderful flavor as always though.

Drew Estate

Ok. This one lives up to the hype. Pretty sure I had one 10 years or so ago but don’t remember it. But kept hearing about how great it is so I got one and let it rest a few months. Definitely lives up to everything I’ve heard. Great flavor, nice and strong. Only issue I had was one side didn’t want to keep up and I’ll blame that on my humidor. I’d bet if I’d dry boxed it for a day or two it would have been perfect. Definitely worth considering a box purchase in the future.

Arturo Fuente

Great flavor, definitely preferred this over the Lost City. But I just couldn’t keep it from canoeing, ended up just letting it go and smoking it as slowly as I could and by the last third it finally straightened out.

Alec Bradley

Was not expecting to like this as much as I did. Burn line was perfect the whole way down which was also a big surprise for a barber pole. Wrapper did have a few cracks but no big issues and had one spot about halfway through where the draw got tight for a few puffs but cleared up on its own. Definitely going to consider buying a box if I can find one in a few months when I have money to spend on myself again.

La Aroma de Cuba

One of my favorite go-to smokes. Creamy but bold enough. Smells great. Burn and construction are perfect.

Oliva

Just the right amount off full bodied spice.

Arturo Fuente

Everything I’d hoped it would be. Great flavor from start to finish. Only complaint is that I wish it had lasted longer.

Romeo y Julieta

Very loose draw leading to a very quick burn. Flavor was good the first two thirds. Last third I only made it through a few puffs. Even taking a few minutes between draws and purging it was hot and rather bitter. Let it burn out with about an inch and a half left.

My Father

Burn started out a little rough but by the end of the first third it was perfect and remained that way until the end. I have always said I can’t go wrong with anything from My Father and this is no exception. A good strong smoke to end the night. Not as good as the original or a le bijou but a great cigar nonetheless.

Dapper

Minor burn issue due to a small crack in the wrapper about halfway through. Otherwise an excellent smoke

Foundation Cigar Co.

A great cigar ruined by a hideous burn. I will definitely try this one again but next time it will be getting a few days dry boxing first. Flavor was exceptional and kept me smoking to the nub even with the countless touchups and relights.

Arturo Fuente

An excellent morning cigar with a strong black coffee. Nice and mellow with just a little bit of spice in the last third. Had to touch up once after ashing just before the last third. Definitely plan on picking up a few more for days that I have time for a longer smoke in the morning.

My Father

Can’t go wrong with anything by My Father. The first one of these I tried had a very tight draw but this one was near perfect in every way. One minor touch up on the burn probably my fault from lighting. Great smoke and lasted nearly an hour and a half.

Asylum

I feel like asylum is one of the gimmick brands but I fell for it. Cool packaging and not a bad smoke. But far from anything great or box worthy. Good strong smoke to finish the night off with a whiskey sour. Burn was decent (one touch up) and draw was good. Flavor was the same throughout, strong leathery had a good bite but nothing complex. Bought 2 by accident, planned on it being a Halloween smoke but since I accidentally ordered two figured I’d burn one right away. Might just let the second one sit till Halloween 2025 and see what a year or n the humidor does for it. I’ve seen a teaser for an Alec Bradley “filthy gouligan” so might have to give that a try…

My Father

Unfortunately this one was cut short due to rain, guess I should have kept a better watch on the forecast. At least it wasn’t an expensive stick but still one I hate to cut short.

Rocky Patel

Probably my favorite RP, nice smooth smoke and pairs well with just about anything

Great flavor but draw was quite loose leading to a fast and uneven burn. Overall a good smoke though.

Alec Bradley

Paired great with a marshmallow flavored whiskey, Revel Stoke Smoregasm. The sweetness of the whiskey definitely brought out the flavors of the cigar without overpowering it. Burn was a little off but I never seem to have luck with perfectos so I’ll take the blame for that. Draw was quite tight the first third or so but improved greatly after than. Overall no real complaints and looking forward to my next one!

Deadwood Tobacco

Very different from my usual. Reminded me of smoking a pipe. Not bad but not something I’ll go for very often. Paired nicely with a s’mores flavored bourbon I picked up. A very sweet treat on a Friday night.

Romeo y Julieta

R&J was one of the first cigars I ever had many years ago. Definitely brings back memories of what got me into this hobby in the first place. Definitely worth keeping one or two on hand in the humidor.

Tight draw but so far the best one I’ve had out of the Cain sampler

JC Newman

An all American cigar, definitely worth giving it a shot but sadly disappointed. Not the 4th of July smoke I was hoping for at all. At least I know I have a good one picked out for tomorrow night.

Ashton

From slight disappointment to please don’t end. The first half of this was just kinda dull and boring. I had been hoping for a great smoke and was getting slightly disappointed. It wasn’t bad but just not that great and kinda boring and cheap tasting. Then the second half kicked in and man I wish the first half had been this good. I’m horrible at picking out the flavors but it was great, ended up smoking it till my fingers were burning and left wanting more.

My Father

Excellent morning smoke with a big cup of coffee. A surprising loose (but good) draw for a very firm stick. Tastes like it’s supposed to, a slightly lighter version of My Father. This was a great way to start a Friday. Sadly now I have to go work.
