Overall a good smoke. Good flavor and good draw. 7/10. Id buy again.

Very light. Little flavor. Good for in the morning or on empty stomach.

Not a bad price tag. But you’re still not really getting what you paid for. Initially, upon lighting, the first scents give you hints of vanilla and spice. This flavor comes through well through the first third. The second third introduces a leather taste giving an interesting aftertaste. Then comes the final third. The flavor of leather becomes incredibly overbearing. Not the hardest stick to put down. Not an expensive cigar but wouldn’t suggest it to my friends.

• Date: 10/28/2023 • Cigar: Romeo y Julieta Reserve Churchill • Drinking: Water • Weather: 82F, light wind • Smoke Time: 2 hours and 20 minutes • Draw: Medium firmness at the start and loosens up somewhat throughout • Burn: Easy to light and needed infrequent touch-ups once past the first 1.5 inches. A couple thicker leaf veins necessitated torching. • Ash: Solid and even in texture and color with a light/medium gray. Consistently dropped at 1.5 inches long. • Mouthfeel: Silky smooth light body at the start that by the final third becomes slightly thicker and more robust • Nicotine Strength: Mild/Medium • Unlit Flavors/Smells: Sweet chocolate covered raisins, dates, dried apricots. • Smoking Notes: First puff is delicious. Awesome bright notes of toasted tobacco and roasted peanuts. Mellow white pepper spice that is smooth on retrohale. A few more puffs. Pretzels, wood, faintest of leather. About an inch in and notice a tinge of oil/fuel. Another half inch and the first ash falls. Next puff the leather notes have developed more. All the flavors continue to deepen throughout the first third including the spice. The neighbor’s undisciplined dog starts barking at nothing as usual. Entering the second third sees pencil shavings – graphite and cedar. The room note a pleasant barnyard. Peanut note is shifting to walnut. Light floral and herbal tones. At the midpoint the aftertaste reminds me of a light roast coffee. The same neighbor’s infant begins to cry but thankfully they get in their car and leave, hopefully for the rest of the smoke. The herbal and earthy qualities are more pronounced as are leather. Lost in thought, the cigar goes out at this juncture, so I roll the ash off and relight with a couple matches. The flavors continue to mature in the final third. Shallow puffs expose perfumed floral elements. With roasted nuts and spice on the mind I place an order for some delicious Indian food. Two inches left and the stick goes out as I sweep the deck. Without hesitation I relight. I wonder if there are cigar roach clips. As soon as I stand up as the session concludes the rambunctious neighbors return, the infant babbling. I get a notification by food has been delivered. Divine timing; Allahu Akbar! • Conclusion: A wonderful example of the benefits of Churchills and other longer cigar sizes. Velvety, cool smoke with mild spice. The flavors develop in depth consistently. The only negatives were that the burn line needed some attention and that it started to crack/unravel slightly as I was toasting and lighting this, however it only affected the first inch. Smoked down to the width of my thumb. The perfect way to wind down an active and gorgeous altweibersommer day as the late afternoon gives way to night. 4/5

Very smooth • Nicotine Strength: Light • Unlit Flavors/Smells: Wonderfully sweet chocolate covered raisins. Hints of cinnamon. • Smoking Notes: First pull and I know this is going to be good. Floral notes and roasted nuts (cashews?). Some spice but very smooth, relatively easy on retrohale. An inch in and more woodsy and earthy tones appear. Cedar and gingerbread cookie. • Conclusion: The first RYJ I have smoked since I started taking notes. I can see why this is such a popular brand. When I think of what a cigar tastes like, this is what I think of. It isn’t super complex so you can enjoy with other activities but still has enough depth to keep it interesting. Delicious from start to finish. 4/5

Flavor was very on point for a lighter cigar, not very full or heavy but definitely a unique smoke; took a bit to get going and the draw was less than I would have liked but all around a good lounging cigar (45 min)
