El Rico Habano

The wrapper looks lumpy, almost like it may have been improperly stored at one point, like it got too humid and then dried out. However, there's lots of tooth on the wrapper so I'm hopeful it will turn out to be a great smoke. It smells like a farmyard but in the cold draw I get a hint of seaweed. Sort of an odd flavor in a cigar, but I like sushi, so who knows. Upon lighting, I get a sweet flavor almost like the cap was dipped in sugar. Very odd because I figured I would taste the sweetness in the cold draw. I don't really smoke sweet tip or infused cigars so I can't tell if it tastes similar. The only other flavor I'm really picking up is a woody oak, which reminds me of a sweeter cab sauv. Now 1/3 through, I'm starting to taste more of the nutty/coffee flavor I expected. Not a dark roast, but a very flavorful medium roast. There's still a strong sweet, dark chocolate cherry flavor. I've been fighting a running burn since about an inch in but the ash is still hanging tight. And right as I type that, the ash fell, about halfway through the smoke. The draw has been fantastic, it's packed firmly but with a great airflow and smoke output. Approaching the final third and that sweetness has subsided slightly and turned to that farmyard flavor I was expecting. Hay, sweet grass, and leather with some black pepper in the retro. Nothing like a super flavorful cigar on a lazy Friday night to wrap up the work week.
