Habano Bourbon Barrel-Aged Sun Grown

Smooth cigar.

Delicious smoke. Perfect draw, perfect burn, plenty of smoke. Woody notes, balanced, later some leather. My favorite under the Perdomo Barrel aged line so far (haven’t tried the maduro yet).

Good solid feeling stick. Excellent flavor. Nice white ash, indicating a thorough fermentation. Very pleasant room smell and a good amount of smoke. But, going into the last half of the cigar, it started plugging up. For a torpedo, I did do a shallow cut, which could account for that. I cut it a little deeper and improved the draw, but then began a lengthy battle with it trying to canoe on me. It never stopped canoeing until the last bit of the final ⅓. That being said, the flavors remained very good. Got some pepper at the back of the throat in the final⅓, but it was not unpleasant. Even picked up stronger notes of butter cream in the final⅓! My 1st box of cigars were Perdomo Bourbon Barrel Aged Habano Connecticuts. I find that I now enjoy the BBA Habano Sungrowns more.

Good burn until the final⅓, had to do a hot purge. Good draw and flavor. Got a little spicy at the back of the throat past the ½ way point, but not undesirable. Good solid light grey ash. Just another reason Perdomo is my favorite brand.

These are good cigars! It tried to submarine on me a few times, but that may have been my fault for not letting them rest long enough after receiving them.

I've been a devoted fan of Perdomo for a while. My favorite is the Double Aged Vintage Connecticut...with one major exception: The 12yr old Connecticut shade wrappers are extremely delicate and it's virtually impossible to remove the band without damaging the wrapper! Smoking cigars is about relaxing and enjoying fine tobacco. It's not relaxing if you are constantly thinking about peeling a portion of the wrapper off at the halfway point of the cigar. That being said, my 1st favorite from Perdomo was the BBA Habano shade. Today, I burned a BBA sungrown. It's amazing, the difference a wrapper makes. The flavor on this stick started out with mainly hay and some wood. As it progressed, I got more wood and cedar as well as good tobacco taste. I also noticed from the early part of the stick, that I had more of an aftertaste (which I enjoy), and the room smell was pleasant. I had a bit more nicotine strength than the shade growns, and towards the final ⅓, some spice on the back of the throat. By the end of the stick, all the hay was gone, with primarily wood/cedar and tobacco flavor. Very flavorful smoke. A slow burning stick too! Perhaps I will try a sungrown Double Aged Vintage next. I really like the flavors on these.

Notes of Oak and flavors of bourbon carry very strongly in the first third. Oak and Bourbon flavors mellow, but carry into second third. Cigar holds an ash very well.
