Went to a historic hotel with a cigar lounge. The cigars were overpriced but it's a nice atmosphere. The staff cut and lit the cigar for me (which I'm not used to) and really torched the foot instead of toasting it like I would prefer. The flavor off the initial light was a bit acrid and had more of a plastic flavor that I'm not used to. However, based off prior experiences with this cigar, I'm sure that won't last. Around an inch in, the Padron 1964 flavor I'm used to started to appear. An oak and grassy hay flavor popped up with a slight vanilla sweetness and a floral note i can't quite put my finger on. The ash is a grey-white, and is holding tight after an inch plus. The burn continues to keep relatively straight with rotation and the draw is nice and easy with a v-cut. I tapped the ash after it grew to around an inch and a half because I didn't want to wear it. After ashing and purging the cigar a nice earthy, coffee flavor appeared along with more of the hay/farmyard notes in the retrohale. In the 2nd half now. One puff gave a quick note of licorice/anise and then vanished, then back to the woody, hay. Quite the fun contrast in flavor from one puff to the next. Between the wood flavor and the hay lies a nuttiness i didn't puck up on before. Maybe chestnut is the right way to describe it but i haven't had enough chestnuts to really pin that flavor. Again, i decided to tap the ash as to avoid ashing on myself and making a mess in this fancy lounge, which brings me to the final third. The flavors are quite pronounced after ashing. The hot burn shoves the flavor in my face and the smoke output almost doubles. Lots of earthy, woody, nutty, and grassy hay flavor. The smoke seems to make my gums raw and the heat is almost painful under my tongue. Maybe this is a result of smoking too quick after ashing. The burn also slowed way down on one side, so i did touch it up, but i bet it would've evened out itself if I have it the time and attention it needed. As I continue, the burn keeps wavering yet catches up with rotation. Flavor continues to develop the deeper earth notes with the woody undertones. Definitely a nub candidate. One last ash as I approach the nub. The flavor once again explodes and provides a great ending to this gem of a cigar.
