TL;DR - an elegant smoke as expected. Medium strength. Tea at the core. 👍 Aged 7 mos ⏳️ Pre-light sweet tobacco. Superb construction, not loose-packed like some previous EP Carrillo encounters. Goldilocks draw. Light-up easy and even. Initially toasty oak, leather retrohale. Black tea and tobacco spice develop and stay to the end. It's an exquisite smoke, though coffee pairing is not recommended.

I finally got to properly experience one of these. In general, I agree that this is an elegant cigar. However, I don't see that it earned its #1 position in 2018/2019 (?). The first and second thirds were clearly pecan with a tea undertone. I loved it and it was a wonderful departure from the typical wood / oak we experience in so many other cigars. Honestly, I do not know how to describe the final third, but it was good. The burn started a little bit rough, but did self-correct. The prelight was very mild and hardly noticeable. The cigar's construction was immaculate. I definitely recommend this cigar, and will be buying more. If I can leave one parting thought, I would say that this should not be paired with anything that has strong flavors, or you will lose all the nuance of the cigar.

Stark box pressed cigar, nice maduro wrapper, tight seams. Good draw, plenty of smoke. Dark chocolate and coffee in the first third. Second third gets meatier, bolder, leathery. Unfortunately, the burn wasn’t great, hat to touch up 2-3 times and relight 2 times. Last third finishes strong, with more leather and coffee… bold, flavorful, medium strength cigar. Very good flavor but a shame the burn wasn’t up to the same standard.

Got the Encore Black about a month ago from a B&M and let it sit. Very tasty smoke, thought it would be way stronger based on the look, but its fairly medium. Burned well and had a nice open draw. Very good flavors going on here.

Nice construction; visually appealing. Firm box press, smooth wrapper with fine but visible veins. Flaw under the ribbon of this one. Out of factory cello, from a box and properly humidified, there are two breaks at the end. One larger, one smaller both in the picture. Another tear in the wrapper appeared in the final 3rd. Cold draw; leather, oak, milk chocolate, nutmeg and spice. First third, same as cold draw, nutty flavours emerge, strength remains medium through second third. Final third, more heat and strength, white pepper becomes stronger.
