TL;DR - tastes like chemicals. 👎 5 mos aged. ⏳️ Removing the cellophane wrapper, the initial scent still shows signs of ammonia. I give it a 4 hour dry-boxing to see if I can get rid of the ammonia. Success. Prelight is now a light barnyard. Draw is OK, though lacking. Appearance is very good. Some of the wrapper comes off when paper packaging from the lower foot is removed. Does not impact the smoke. Light up is easy. Whatever whiskey flavor they're trying to impart comes through right away. There is a problem. I've finished the first third, and I think they're infusion is not great. Imagine adding Lobster Thermidor as a topping to your steak. If the 🦞 is good, then your meal will be amazing. But if the lobster is lacking, then your meal is lacking. Either way, the true nature of the steak is hidden by the lobster topping. There is a parallel here. In this case, the whiskey infusion really comes off as a chemical flavor. Also, it masks any nuance that I might be getting from the tobacco. I expect a better experience from my cigars. Early discard.

Rested 4 months.The pairing with the Johnnie Walker Black really brought out the whiskey flavor of the cigar. Burn wavy and draw good. Oaky nutty with a touch of sweet whiskey. Great for a dreary day.

Diesel Whiskey Row stays true, but takes a unique approach for the brand. The binder is aged in Rabbit Hole Bourbon barrels – a first for Diesel as well as master blender AJ Fernandez. But have no fear – these bourbon barrels that once held Rabbit Hole Bourbon were first shipped to AJ Fernandez in 2016. After many months of testing, he finally nailed down a process that imparts the perfect amount of flavor and aroma into the tobacco and Diesel Whiskey Row was born. The core of this cigar is made up entirely of Nicaraguan long-fillers from 3 different growing regions - Ometepe, Jalapa, and Condega – that have been aged from five to eight years. The bourbon barrel aged binder is a Mexican San Andres leaf, and it’s all held together five-years aged Ecuadorian habano wrapper. The barrel aging produces a strong oaky flavor and hints of bourbon in the aroma. You’ll also notice some floral notes, spice and some sweetness in a medium-bodied format. In my many, many samplings of this cigar, the construction has been nothing short of flawless – something we’ve come to expect from AJ-made cigars. Grab a box of these unique Diesels today, pair ‘em with a few fingers of the good stuff, and you won’t be disappointed. Good news! Diesel Whiskey Row has received a well-deserved 91-point rating, noting: "The earthy, chocolate notes of this cigar frame a hearty core of wood and cedar, all combining for a finish of bread and brown sugar."

Unlit draw was peppery. Lit easy. Burns well. No whiskey taste. Rather unremarkable. Good construction. However, not really worth $8.50

Proper humidor time makes it a pretty decent cigar!

From the start, it’s a decent cigar, but the DE MUWAT Kentucky Wood-Fired rival sets the bar so high this stick struggles to reach it. It’s smooth and pretty pleasant, and the draw is remarkably easy, but the overall flavor isn’t a knock out. I’d give it another try, but I don’t want a box of them. lol

Good flavor, burn, and draw

This was hard to light properly. Nothing too fancy here. Had to bore w PerfecDraw to get a draw.

I smoked this cigar after about 6 weeks of humidifier time, in my experience Diesel Cigars need 3-5 months not weeks but I was hoping it had matured more. 1st third - Earth, wood, a hint of pepper and a sweetness that seems like its from the sherry barrels. 2nd third - The sweetness is still present but chocolate, vanilla and molasses join in 3rd third - The sweetness is fading while strength is increasing to medium to full flavor with earth and pepper leading. Like I said before these need a few more months of humidor time to gain more complexity. Nothing beats aging with diesel brand cigars in my opinion.

Too much

Great construction but that's to be expected from Diesel. I definitely get the oaky notes you would expect from a tobacco aged in bourbon barrels. There's a slight pepper on the retro hale. The flavors are a little subtle in my opinion. It's a good cigar but it can definitely be over powered by certain pairings. I guess it all depends on whether you're looking for a good cigar to complement your bourbon, or a good bourbon to complement your cigar. Paired with Old Forester Prohibition Style 1920

What can I say? I'm a huge fan of the Diesel brand. My favorite cigar, without a doubt, is the Diesel Sunday Gravy. This is my first time smoking the Diesel Whiskey Run and I have to say it's a contender to Sunday Gravy. Has definite wood and pepper notes, especially on the retrohale. The tobacco for this cigar is supposedly "bourbon barrel aged". Which, I'm guessing, is where the wood flavor notes come from. The draw is very smooth and the smoke plentiful. The burn is technically straight, but at an angle. Had to finally touch up the burn line because the angle became so steep it looked like it was starting to canoe. The burn still wouldn't remain straight, so points off for that. Going into the second third the cigar began to develop more spicy notes. Retrohale became a little sharper because of the spiciness. Going into the finally third the cigar started to get soft. Not mushy, bet definitely softer than it was to begin with. Much more heat on the tongue in the final third as well. Overall, apart from the burn line never straightening out, this was an excellent cigar and one I would definitely purchase again.

Multiple relight and went out early. Canoed. Would not buy again

Nice smoke. Exactly what I was looking for to pair with good beer.

Strong pepper beginning the smooth. Hint of whiskey. Middle has graham cracker and light red pepper heat. Outer wrapper came undone at end
